[ Naegi answers fairly promptly...after a muffled thud that indicates he probably walked into something going to the door. He's not really skilled at in the dark navigation. Why didn't he buy any candles...? Still, opening the door without checking he can guess who it is - either Kirigiri or Leon, but more likely Kirigiri, since Leon would be a little noisier. ]

Kirigiri-san?

Yes.

[ His room is just as dark as the rest of the building. While she knows the door is open, she can't see exactly where Naegi is, since her eyes haven't adjusted yet. Normally she would let herself in, but that's not a good idea when she can't see where she's going. ]

May I come in?

Of course you can.

[ He'll open the door more widely and step all the way over to the side. ]

Ah, I'm not standing in the way now...geeze, this is a bit troublesome.

[ She makes her way in, thankful that Naegi moves so she doesn't run into him. ]

It truly is. How long has your power been out? [ She's sure they went out at the same time but just in case. You never know in this place. ]

Just a few minutes ago. It doesn't look like there are lights on anywhere else, either...from glancing out the window.

[ So that's a thing.

...I really should have bought some candles, but it didn't even occur to me.

[ She makes her way over to the couch, feeling her way around. Eventually she finds it and sits down. ]

I hadn't thought of it either. The power had never given me any indication of having problems before, and there wasn't the threat of bad weather that could cause an outage either.

We should probably buy more supplies after the power comes back on. [ if it does, but he's not going to be a pessimist. ] For other eventualities...I guess we were a little bit complacent with the status quo.

[ HE WILL STOCK THINGS UP and then lose mostly everything to the flood, apparently, and all that.

#SHSL luck. There's another sound of Naegi bumping into something as he finds his way over to the other side of the couch. His coffee table is out to get him today. ]

[ Kyouko chuckles at the sound of Naegi running into something. ]

I agree, we have gotten complacent. We can't expect everything to remain the same here, not all the time. [ Because while they could at least expect strange things to happen the weather still always stayed the same. Not anymore, though. ]

It's a little nice that we've been able to get complacent at all... [ Because it means they haven't had to be hyper-focused on MURDER AND MAYHEM ] But I guess a wake up call like this is good. It's not something serious enough that we'd be in trouble during it.

Speaking of preparations, I've been learning to fight a little...it seems like a good idea.

[ he's still the damsel in this pair tho...how tragic ]

[ She would nod if Naegi could see her, because it's true. At least they don't have to deal with something serious.

But Naegi's next comment takes her by surprise. ]

Yeah, Hinata-kun agreed to help me out a little, and there are lessons offered around here, so...

[ He's leaning back into the couch cushions, turned to face Kirigiri even though his eyes have yet to adjust to the dark. ]

It's just, er, I sort of got knocked out a lot back at school, didn't I? It'd be kind of nice to be able to avoid that in the future.

It's good that you're taking initiative. Learning how to fight will definitely benefit you in the long run. [ Especially here. ]

It at least makes me feel a bit more like I can help out...although it seems like a lot of the people here are fighters on Oogami-san's level or higher.

[ some of them are quite frankly terrifying. ]

It does, and they have powers to back up their skills as well.

[ Which, needless to say, was jarring at first. ]

I don't think holding our own against them in a straight-out fight will ever be feasible, but hopefully that's never going to be a concern...

...it is kinda interesting how many people have powers. I guess our own world is pretty "normal" comparatively, with that one exception aside. I don't think Hope's Peak exists elsewhere, from what I can tell.

[ She shakes her head. ]

I don't believe it does either. The several people I have spoken with about Hope's Peak seem to find the school's purpose strange.

Same here. Actually, a few even thought it was a bad idea...

[ He pauses, here. It's...it's really not like they were WRONG...or at least Enoshima Junko found it easy to twist things... ]

I guess that's our "difference" for the most part. For the worlds more like our Earth, anyway. Right...?

Yes, I believe so. We seem to have most other things in common with those from Earth.

[ Most of them seem to be from around relatively the same time period too. ]

Not to mention a lot of people from Earth are from Japan...

That's true. I wonder if it's merely a coincidence, or there's a reason behind it...

I'm not sure. I thought it was kind of weird enough to notice...I just don't know what it means?

At what point does something become more than a coincidence?

It's hard to pinpoint when exactly it's no longer a coincidence. I suppose if we continue to see an increase in people from Japan it would be worth looking into at least.
